Ummmm....looks like I'll need to get the paperwork titled "I'm going to be here a long, long time..."

Thursday May 26th was my much anticipated cervical length check.  Without any pressure I was at 2.3!  But when fundal pressure, when pressure is applied to simulate the pressure of children on the cervix upon standing, it went down to 1.3 :(

This is fundal height, also the inspiration for the popular ad campaign. . .
Mmmmmm delicious
The doctor was busy trying to give a blood transfusion between twins in the womb we think, no one is discussing specifics of other patients, we just hear about things here and there on the floor so we didn't get a chance to talk to him but the nurse delivered the bad news: she said it sounded like I'd be here for at least a month if not longer.
:)
I have so many questions to ask tomorrow.  What is the chance I'll make it home before the girls are born?  Is 28 weeks still a reachable goal?  What happens if my cervix continues to shorten?

The count saying the seasons might change before she gets out!

Tony doesn't believe there was that much shortening, it was 2.44 a week before and the cervix has a bit of a dynamic-ness (not a word) to it so it seems to be holding strong. With the next measurement we'll really have an idea of a trend.

I also managed to gain zero pounds in the last 10 days.  I was not able to eat for almost 3 days so hopefully that was the only reason why.

Tony asked what I was reading...

I'm trying my best to eat a few more snacks during the day and get an Ensure shake in every day. We have a new shift of health care workers helping us out keeping me on task.

Doesn't look like someone ate their cheese stick!

Did you feed those vegetables to the dog?
Let's just say they are expecting a little more dinner...

Is there a downtown Taco Bell? Mmmmm Chalupa!

The good parts of today was being able to see the girls with Tony sitting beside me.  It looks like they are growing and baby C looked like she was sucking her thumb.  The girls must know they have a lot of work to do the next few months because they have been kicking me like crazy today.  Megan and Ellie spent the afternoon with me making the time fly by.  Megan also organized my room to make it more homey.  Thanks Megan!

HGTV's got nothing on my room now!

Continued prayers and visits are appreciated!

 Friday May 27th

The babies turn 21 weeks today so that's another step, we're so close to 24 weeks and viability. Once I get to 23 weeks I may be getting steroid shots to help the girls lungs.

The case against animal testing....
Tony, after having dinner with me during bridezillas or some wedding show, went off to the Barnstormers game to help celebrate my mom's birthday where the announcer said "Joy Block turns 19"

Joy is the 19 year old young lady on the left with a beer in her hand

where Iowa's Football powerhouse put a hurting on the Utah Flame...

Kurt Warner in his Heyday!
Tony didn't mention anything about the Storm Chasers!

Victory!
Saturday May 28th

Thanks to Dawn and her Mom Pauline, Lindsey and Brian, my Mom and Lee all visited so it's been busy. Tony's super excited he's got a blow up mattress (Mattress!) to lay on the floor while he's here.

This bed is how we ended up in the hospital with triplets!
Mindy's 21 week belly pics

Each fetus is as big as a spagetti squash ...
Seems like a little belly for 3 squasheses
Until you see her laying down ... that's a watermelon on toothpicks...

  1. Random worthless trivia to occupy like 5 seconds of your time today - so at the U it's the L&D night intern's job to keep up on the antepartum babies' birthdays. Every night at midnight they go through the list and add a day to each baby's age (as you know full well every day is a celebration in antepartum land!). The med students do get to update the L&D whiteboard, so that's something :) And it's VERY exciting when they have a week birthday of course!! Anyway, glad to know your babies have a Friday birthday, so I can keep up on their age!! Thanks for the updates - sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way! (that might even have wasted 10sec of your time I'm so long-winded!!)
