First, thanks to everyone for their calls and texts and posts, we really appreciate it. Mindy knows she's got 16 urgent voice mails and she's just too incoherent to call or text right now, but she doesn't want to be impolite and wants everyone to know she appreciates it.
Thanks from both of us! |
Clinically Speaking
The Mag Sulfate along with Zofran, Protonix Lactated Ringers, and everything else has been a lot for Mindy to handle. It took four tries to get that original IV in and she's had to get the blood band just in case she needs the cerclage tomorrow.
The doctor wanted to put in 4 grams over 30 minutes of Mag Sulfate then decrease to 2 grams, but that didn't do the trick. The dose had to be upped to 3 grams and that was a lot for her system and she's hoping they'll be able to wean her off it soon.
It's hard for her to roll from one side of the bed to the other without a push and she's got ice packs on her head trying to keep her cool, but the rest of her body is freezing. She shivers occasionally and we're glued to the contraction monitor hoping that it doesn't spike. It was going 10 an hour at one time and now is down to 1 every hour at most.
We're hoping the ultrasound shows that the cervix is competent and was just squeezed because of the contractions when that comes tomorrow, hopefully, the results will be in around 8 AM and we'll get to talk to the doctor by 10 AM and see what the plan is. Right now, the nurse will withhold food and water after midnight just in case surgery is warranted.
She's eaten sporadically, a little Captain Crunch here, a little milk there, some soup, some clear liquids, but it's like trying to eat while you're on a roller coaster, you may get it down...but that doesn't mean it's going to stay there.

Some Levity
We'll be in touch tomorrow as we learn more. I thought Mindy said "go bust in your purse" but she said "keep us in your prayers"
Last night I made her laugh so hard she couldn't stop farting...they were cute...but still pointed at me...
Now she's trying to negotiate the bedpan and you'd think it would be easy to point and shoot at something that is under you, but if your angle is wrong one way it goes down your butt and if you angle the other way, well, that's a visitor's surprise... Trying to keep it light . . .
we know things are in the best hands they could be . . .
Amber, thank you for the flower e-card that came in, Mindy has it up on her shelf.
Thanks Joy for staying most of the day and we'll see ya tomorrow...
Goodnight everyone, we'll be in touch tomorrow...
