Guilt and some baaaad timing
I went home on Thursday to see my family and friends and will come back on Sunday night and apparently the girls did not like this and sent Mindy to the hospital at 18 weeks 6 days. She started having really bad pain along her sides and back around 8:30 PM. The pain was constant and at times would get worse. The doctor her to go to the hospital if she didn't feel better soon. Her mom and sister Mickenzie decided that waiting 10 more minutes was enough and got in the car and headed for the hospital. (Thanks Mom and Mickenzie!)

She was hooked up to a monitor to catch any contractions (which she had a few episodes). They also had to find each of the baby's heartbeats to make sure they were ok. It was not as easy as it sounds. The babies were having a party because they wouldn't stay still long enough for the nurses to get all three heart beats. (Peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time!)

After about 10-15 minutes the heart beats were all captured and the babies were cleared. Mindy, on the other had was discharged at 2:00 AM and told that she would be on bed rest the rest of the weekend and would be reevaluated at my appointment on Monday. They kids get in trouble for the party with a slap on the wrist, the parents suffer. Sorry Mom and Dad, can't believe the girls are starting so early!

Push the fluids (3 quarts a day). May shower, may use the bathroom, may make a quick shopping trip if absolutely necessary, keep off feet as much as possible, lay on left or right side, no working, no lifting, no vacuuming, and avoid stairs. Of course it was Mindy's Saturday to work but thanks to Greg she was able to stay home and the pharmacy opened as usual. It is hard enough going through this but knowing she has the support at work and doesn't need to stress about that makes it a lot better. Thanks Greg!
Teresa and Mindy were supposed to freeze a bunch of meals on Sunday for if she ever has to go on bed rest or for once the babies are here. Didn't realize that Mindy might be needing them this soon. So bless her heart she is bound and determined to get the meals made. She offered to come pick up all the ingredients they bought, take it home and make it all herself. However, Mickenzie, who will be living here and eating the food too will help out. It is wonderful having such thoughtful, caring friends. Thanks Teresa and Kinz!

Sadie's over for a visit, maybe not the best weekend to be kenneling a dog |
At PT she is now using the pregnancy pillows. Basically 2 large foam pillows with a gap in between so she can lay on her stomach. She says it's amazing! The back pain and foot pain has started. No fun. Mindy also went swimming for the first time and didn't realize how good it felt until she went to get out of the pool and the weight was there again but look at that figure!

Not sure if the doctor approves of this suit but I do! |
Some blasts from the past
So I went home and visited the street I was born on, I had never been there before, and it's literally a block from Wheaton High School . . . No wonder I've been to so many colleges . . . In thinking of the girls I passed my elementary/middle school and drove through College Park, where I went to college in 1993 after a Peanut Butter Jelly Time two years at the University of Florida to enjoy my sophomore year . . . again. Just an update for those Terps that haven't been there for a while . . .

Seeking counsel of the wise one
Jim Lancaster was my head coach when I was at Seton Keough High School back in Baltimore and I went for a visit.
He has just added a 2 week old to his family and he taught me how to hold the baby and the importance of the comfy chair. Just to make it realistic, Eleanor spit up on me as I first held her. Good thing I was wearing white. I look pretty angelic with the glow, huh?

While I held the baby the Jedi Master Lancaster relaxed . . .

Anyway, off to bed, running the Maryland 1/2 Marathon tomorrow then flying home.
Miss my wife. Miss my daughters to be. Sorry I wasn't there honey.
