The Report Card
Tony: When I was a freshman in high school I got a report card with 6 A's and a D and, well, let's say the focus wasn't on the 6 A's. Our D today was all but a missing cervix and Mindy earned a trip back to the hospital where she lies now in the East Tower, 3rd floor, Room 3109.
The News
The babies are looking so good and are progressing and with a normal term pregnancy we know they would do great. However, with only the cerclage stitch and a minimum of cervix between us we know the toughest days are ahead as we are only at 27 weeks and 2 days. We are five days away from the magic 28 weeks where 90% of babies suffer no long term ill effects from the early birth so we'll hope we can at least make it that far. I made the mistake of looking ahead to weeks 29, 30, 31, 32, etc. and seeing how much each week gives the kids and I'm just hoping they'll stay in there for many more and Baby A will stop trying to get out (she continues to kick Mindy's vaginal and rectal areas!)
The Weights and Heartbeats
Baby A: 2 pounds 1 ounce, an increase of approximately 8 oz
Baby B: 1 pound 8 ounces, no change from two weeks ago
Baby C: 1 pound 11 ounces, an increase of approximately 8 oz.
B's the kicker so we don't know what her deal was, maybe she was wanting the Brazilian national soccer team to win or was dissapointed by England's fall to France. Whatever it is, we've got to get back into our hospital routine of protein, protein and more protein as well as calories and try to get all the kids over two pounds, preferably 3 pounds each.
Mindy will need you more than ever as she goes from the freedom of home to hospital confinement and the prospect of another Mag Sulfate punch in the face. She'll be getting her steriod shots today and tomorrow to help push things along. We watched Baby C hiccup while we were in there which means she is practicing breathing which is wonderful.
Thanks again for all you've done and that you've made Mindy's stay at home so welcome. Hopefully she won't be home for a month but whatever comes, we know how supportive you all have been.
