Hospital Bed Rest Survival

Hopefully all of you reading this never have to be in the hospital for months, but if you do here are some things that have kept me sane.

1. Watching TV shows I have heard are good but never got into (Desperate Housewives, Dexter, Weeds).
With Tony making cameo appearances Mindy just puts this DVD on repeat!

2. Having somewhat of a schedule.  It does truly make the day go faster.
Mindy may get her AARP card by the time she gets released!

3. Put upcoming events and visitors in my Outlook calendar so it gives me something to look forward to.

Maybe if Mindy would stop opening the oven the kiddos would be ready to go!
 4. Having visitors.  I hate asking for things but even a little bag of candy or magazine makes my day.

It's best to bring food because a pregnant woman with triplets sees people ... differently!

5. Read if you can.  I find I can only read for a short period of time before my neck hurts or I get dizzy.

Multitasking...
6. Imagine things the five of us will be doing next summer to keep my spirits up (swimming, going to the zoo, playing outside at the park, chasing them around as they will be reaching the walking phase).

No Daddy, don't you dare eat it!
7. Reading inspirational quotes or stories.  I have read other blogs of triplet moms and others who have survived the NICU.  I am starting to write quotes down to read every day so if you have some good ones please share!

Mmmmm...fries!

8. Have the nurses leave your door open.  It makes it a little less lonely.

Baby A indicating she likes the door closed...

9. Join an online support group (Just Mommies, Baby Center bed rest..).

If only online groups were this happy!

10. Make your room homey.  Bring in plants, things from home, add an extra mattress to your bed to make it more comfortable.
Homey...not homestyle...
 11.  Sleeping at night can be a challenge.  Ask for a fan, noise maker, or a sleeping pill.

Mindy has lost a lot of muscle mass and has had to break trips in half...
Hope these tips help, tomorrow I find out how much I weigh and week 25 is Saturday!
