Rianne
She went down to 3 on her vapotherm and didn't tolerate it well so she is back up to 4. She is tolerating her feeds better and is up to 9 mls every 3 hours. She is learning how to suck on her pacifier (Tony learned what the finger hole is) and keeps her eyes open during her feeds. She weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces and is 13.8 inches long.
Mindy, for the record, this is the kind of pacifier I know, no place to put your finger here...my bad... |
Ri pretended like she was in a skiing accident...very funny... |

Congress and Obama came to our Preemies and asked them to "Pay their Share" Ri, a former Democrat, has asked us to register her as Republican. |
Teagan
She is at at 3 on her vapotherm and has had one or less spells in the past few days. She is eating 16 mls every 3 hours. She is no longer on lipids or her TPN. She will get her PICC line out later this week if she continues to tolerate all her feeds. They will be adding formula to the breast milk in order for her to get more calories. She weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces and is 13.8 inches long.
A PICC line to a Preemie, proportionally, is like sticking a Javelin in a regular person. I've provided a visual...
Man, you've got to throw really far to get away with that hair! |

Brielle
She is making a come back! The only thing her testing showed was a trace amount of staph in her lungs. After being on 3 antibiotics for 3 days they were stopped. The plan was to keep her on the vent till Friday and then try her back on the vapotherm. Well Brielle had something else in mind. She decided at 10 AM this morning to get off the vent by pulling it out herself. I guess she was trying to tell us all she was feeling better and wanted that tube out of her mouth. She weighs 2 pounds and is 13.6 inches long.
The doctors throwing the "kitchen sink" worth of antibiotics at Brielle. |

We have been asked a lot about when do they get to come home so we thought we'd include that criteria. They say babies typically go home 2-4 weeks before their due date which would be mid September. But, it is too early to tell.
- Weigh at least 4 pounds.
- Take all their feedings by bottle or breast.
- Be spell free for 5 days.
- Be off oxygen or on low pressure oxygen.
- Be able to sit in their car seat for 45 minutes without having a spell.
- Be able to maintain their temperature on their own.

Just one of many visuals to help dad. |
