It's been a month? Really! And a week of changes...

Our baby girls are four weeks old and their doctor and nurse (thanks Pam!) this week is quite aggressive.

No, not that kind of aggressive!

We mean pushing more food, pulling back on the oxygen...doing all the good things that a coach does for a great team...and yes, we have a team!!! Being aggressive has positives and negatives.... it's exciting to see them needing less support but sometimes it's too much too fast for them and their spells increase.  The girls are being weaned from their oxygen, feeds are increasing, and they are working towards maintaining their body temperature (that means the heat in their beds is being turned down and they can wear clothes to help keep them warm).  Here's the news from the guy Mindy would be married to if she weren't married for Tony...

She is down to 2 liters on her vapotherm and is doing fairly well.

Breathing exercises help with the transition

She is eating 20 ml's of 24 calorie (half formula half breast milk) every three hours and she is no longer on TPN and her PICC should come out Thursday.  The nurses think she is the spitting image of Tony <Tony: She must be reaaaally good looking!>.  She weighs 3 pounds and is 14.6 inches long. 3 pounds!!!!

Teagan

She is down to 1 liter on her vapotherm.  She is eating 22 ml's of 24 calorie every 3 hours.  Teagan has made diaper changing interesting.  She is known to start pooping as soon as you try taking her dirty diaper off.  It is not uncommon to have to go through 2 or 3 diapers during her diaper changes as she lays there content as can be.

It's okay, she's composting her diapers!

She weighs 2 pounds 8 ounces and is 13.8 inches long.

Brielle

She is at 3 liters on her vapotherm.  She is eating 19 ml's every 3 hours and will most likely get her PICC line out by the end of the week.  She has filled out quite a bit the past few days and is now bigger than Teagan.  She weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces and is 13.6 inches long.
