Week 14 down, hopefully ... hopefully 2/5 of the way there and 21 weeks to go!
It's my birthday coming up but somebody ate the cake! |
I mean the whole cake! |
Mindy thought for sure she'd been packing on the pounds this week as her appetite grew, but she picked up only 0.5 pounds this week. How does someone who can eats a large porkchop, a twice baked potato,5 stuffed mushrooms, a good amount of asparagus, and a bowl of ice-cream an hour later not gain weight while I look at the same meal and pick up 3 pounds?
I suggested we contact the Biggest Loser contestants and ask what they were eating before they got on the show. They refused to talk to me, they were eating, but that's okay, I've done my research and put together a list from acaloriecounter.com to help with the daily menu. (I'm not really expecting Mindy to eat this, but these numbers are nuts...gotta fry it or freeze it to pack on calories!)
The big problem around here is that the top four on the list
1. White Castle Large Chocolate Shake 1680 calories,
2. Nathan's Fish and Chips 1537 calories,
3. Carl's Jr Double Six Dollar Burger 1520 Calories and
4. Hardees Monster Thickburger 1420 calories
are just not available but here's a breakfast, lunch, dinner combination that will put Mindy and the kids on a heart monitor for sure. ...surprisingly, it's a lot easier to fatten up at the Dairy Queen, Sonic and Subway than McDonalds!
For breakfast, why not try that
McDonalds Deluxe Breakfast 1140 calories
Not a bad start, but hardly going to pack on the pounds.
How about a visit to DQ for lunch!
Wash down a six piece Chicken Strip Basket at 1270 calories with a Dairy Queen Large Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard at 1320 calories and we've got 2590 calories in just one meal!
Can I top that for dinner? You betcha!
How about stopping by for something healthy at Subway, a double meatball marinara sub at 860 calories and a trip to sonic for an M&M chocolate blast for 900 calories?
And Taco Bell's fourth meal, don't forget a nice snack before bed!
A Nachos Bell Grande at 770 calories gets us over 6000!
That sounds disgusting! So, seriously, I'm putting it out to you guys, anyone have any ideas on packing on a couple of pounds without sending 3 kids and mom to the cardiologist?
Painting the Kid's Room
Mindy: Thanks to my friend Dawn's mom our nursery is being painted this weekend! I can't wait to see how it looks and be one step closer to getting the nursery done. Next it will be time to clean the carpets and put the cribs and dresser together. Thank goodness my more interior decorating savvy friends are coming soon to help hang things on the walls, pick out bedding, and find some curtains.
The Multiples Class
We got to tour the NICU, nursery, labor and delivery rooms, OR, and recovery rooms. It was nice to see where we would be spending time this fall and they mentioned that parents usually stay there 24/7...I'm not sure how making a hospital into our own little Embassy Suites fits into our lives but I gotta say, they've got hot tubs in the birthing rooms!...everyone was really friendly there and we're getting to know some of the other couples, especially the couple with triplets.
Mindy struggled to keep it together as we saw all of the pictures of NICU babies as small as 14 oz. A McDonalds Milkshake is not supposed to be bigger than your kid! No one asked the question...though I don't think it would be appropriate...how many kids don't graduate from the NICU?
Mindy was pretty well inspired to make it to week 35. The told us during the tour that if the babies are born before week 34 they will go to the NICU automatically so we're really trying to go further...but seriously, how am I going to assist in maintaining Mindy's cervical competence?
It's my 39th birthday Sunday and it's just a year from 40 and running the Masters 800 in the Drake relays. I think it would be cool to have my kids watching me run on that track, and with how fast I'll run, happier that kids don't remember anything before they are 5.
On Friday we find out what gender they are going to be hopefully with the 4D
April 22nd is coming soon! We are excited to see our babies again and learn how many boys and girls we will be having. If you want to take make a wager put your prediction in the comments, right now odds are pushing towards 2 girls and a boy.
Avoid the nursery from now on if you can. That was so sad for me to see. I can completely relate to that feeling, Mindy.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I ate about every day were strawberry smoothies. Mix full fat yogurt(strawberry flavored or vanilla), 1 banana, strawberries or other berries optional, ice and some calcium fortified oj together for one good start to the day for more energy and a solid way to pack in many of the nutrients you need. I also used pomegranite juice for more added vitamins. No one can eat all the stuff you're supposed to when it comes down to it, but there are ways to get all the good stuff by making good treats like smoothies. You can use frozen bananas too. Just stock up on a carton of the yogurt and it will last about a week.
Gotta be 2 girls and a boy to make a girl sandwich! That boy is going to be so spoiled since the Blocks are low on the testosterone side.
priceless...
