I am in a graduate level linguistics class and I'm just uploading 12 videos of the girls saying different things that are in my paper I'm handing in where I will fill in the details about what's happening linguistically in each video. All of the things they are doing are normal and appropriate developmentally, and sometimes just darn cute, but with them being preemies, it's nice to know what to expect.
Video 1: Letter "S" Rianne saying "Play Doh Monster"
Video 2: Letter "R" in "Super"
Video 3: Letter "R" in Teagan saying "Sucker"
Video 4: Letter "R to W" in Teagan saying "Dora"
Video 5: Letter "R" in Brielle saying [mommy's] "at work"
Video 6: Rianne won't say "Play-Doh." It's just cute, no linguistic value.
Video 7: Letter "L" Rianne saying "Play-Doh"
Video 8: Letter "L" and "P to T" in Teagan's "Please"
Video 9: Letter "L" in oatmeal, ends up pretty cute.
Mindy and Sister Kinzie see that Keith will be taking someone on stage...Kinzie's husband Michael can see Keith on the big screen, why would anyone care about going on stage with Keith?
The Dentist The girls had their first trip to the dentist and it went rather well. They had an awesome play area and everyone was very nice. The girls got their teeth brushed and flossed by the dentist and then got to pick a prize at the end. We came home with three new balls to play with!
Rianne has an extra tooth so she will likely have to have one of her baby teeth pulled and most likely a permanent one as well.
The dentist could tell Teagan LOVES her pacifier as it has made some changes to the shaping of her mouth. We are to stop using the pacifiers in the next six months. My goal is this spring after we get through the winter crud and such.
Anyone want to volunteer to spend those first nights at our house? Already dreading it.
Seriously, you took that picture. I didn't even get my makeup on.
Rianne, um [stet], we don't wear makeup, but it looks like Brielle will be wearing cupcake soon.[Daddy can't put "um" in the blog, it would go badly with grandmom]
Wait, we all have two candles, except...Brielle, did you eat your candle?
Milk mustache.
Potty training is in full swing with Rianne and Teagan. Brielle still has no interest in sitting on the potty but likes to tell us when one of her sisters has an accident. Rianne and Teagan wear undies (as they call them "unnies") when we are at home and we just recently got "bye bye undies" aka pull-ups so we don't have to revert back to diapers when we leave the house or have accidents in public. I triedleaving Rianne in her undies when we went to the library this week thinking she went potty right before we left. Not such a good idea. She got a little too excited and forgot to tell us she needed to go potty and the next thing I know she is getting all nervous and saying, "Accident!" Thank goodness I threw in an extra pair of pants before we left the house.
I feel like I should have a sword here with a hilt on my side...
Supermodel pout.
The girs are talking a lot more and can say what they want which is fun and interesting. Brielle told me she wanted oatmeal for breakfast, but of course after I made it she didn't want it anymore. They really like to play hide-and-seek but aren't so good at staying hidden. Rianne knows her colors very well while Brielle and Teagan are still getting them down. The girls love to sing songs. Their favorites are spider (itsy bitsy spider), twinkle, bus (wheels on the bus), happy (happy and you know it clap your hands), abc's, and sunshine and (you are my sunshine).
Did I chop this tree down? Seriously?
I can get you a piece of gum, it's really no trouble...
Make sure you get pictures with my hair in the back, otherwise I look like Ellen.
Rianne loves her big girl bed. Some nights she runs to her bed before we are done reading her bedtime story! I wish all three were that easy to put to sleep. Teagan is still in her crib as we are afraid she could leave the house and we wouldn't know it. She sometimes fights it, but for the most part still goes to bed fairly easily and sleeps well. Brielle on the other hand is still in a funk and wants to sleep on the floor and the room has to be well lit. She still wakes up 1-2 times at night yelling for milk which she downs and then usually goes back to sleep. Some nights Tony has sleep overs with her. Brielle had a weight check at the end of October and was up a pound and a half! Her breathing rate was down in the upper 30's compared to 50-60 breaths per minute in July. We are thinking with the medication (cyproheptadine) and her slower breathing hopefully she will eat more and burn fewer calories. We go back in four months for another check.
