Walking NASA and Cheerios

The girls are now 13.5 months old and are now on the move on their feet.  Teagan is a mad woman with her cart.  She can turn it any direction without slowing down and maintains her balance.  She is starting to stand up on her own more and takes a few steps on her own.  She can wave hi and bye and claps.   She can turn herself around in circles when she is sitting on the floor which is often followed by her funny faces and waving arms.

Brielle often walks from place to place by herself.  She loves to do the "so big" arms and claps. She doesn't understand why the other girls have so much trouble walking.

Here's a video:

Rianne is now taking steps from place to place on her own and still loves to do the "so big" arms then fall in your lap.  She can also clap.  When songs on cartoons come on the girls often stop what they are doing and do a little jig.

Daddy, it's okay. I'm a girl. I'm supposed to wear a dress. Look. sparkles.

You can trust me to take care of the other babies.

Do you have any princess slipper? My foot's ready.

If you look closely at Brielle and Rianne, you can see they are both putting their thumb in their mouths at the same angle. The girls surprised mom and dad by trying to make dinner.

I'm trying to change my own diaper. It's harder than it looks. I'm going on an important mission and I want to have a clean diaper.

The girls now love playing in the cupboards and pantry.  They think it is fun to get everything out then crawl away.  All of our cupboards have the roll drawers so we need to put the safety locks on so they don't smash their fingers or fall on the floor.

And pitching up. Pitch rate - 2.5 degrees per second. GDC (Gyro Display Coupler) align... Thrusting forward. Houston, my cup holder is out of Cheerios.

We're calculating your trajectory. Cheerios will be on the way soon.
I gave Teagan her first hair cut after being harassed by my family that her hair was always in her eyes.  You can tell it was not professional but it works.  Teagan's top two teeth are working their way thru her gum line.  Brielle has another nasty diaper rash.  She was prescribed silvadine cream which if used to frequently can cause pubic hair to grow. Good to know.

I looked in here. No Cheerios.
Meanwhile. Back at NASA ground control. Where are the Cheerios? I don't know. I can't read. Just shake everything, I'll know it when I hear it.
I ate the Cheerios. Isn't my car seat pretty. So pink.
It's too big. Ha!

They're trying to walk...pictures today...video another day

In the last couple of years we haven't had too much time to get much yard work done. Teagan puts in a decorative lamp.

And tries to eat a magic rock. No Teagan. No.

Teagan the environmentalist tries to save our tree.

The big tree had to come down. Making room for a volleyball court/pitching mound/place for the trampoline. Our neighbor Courtney promised to help them learn to pitch.

Noooo. Tree killer. Nooooo!
A sad day.

Push harder!

Drumline.

Lifeguard practice.

So in this picture we see Teagan.

Teagan is underneath and Rianne's deciding whether or not to bonk her head.

Teagan sporting a The North Face jacket. Binkie by Babies R Us.

Getting the tattoo didn't hurt as much as knowing that I can't get rid of it.

Swing.

Teagan. Too tired to make it over the Pack and Play.

We went out to a nice relaxing dinner at Guadalahara. Sort of.

Dr. Guerra (Pharm.D., not M.D.) goes to Washington

View from DMACC. Looks like a cloud tidal wave.

What do you mean daddy? What is a vacation? My parents don't take those.

Daddy's first stop for a perfect photo and something he really, really, really missed. (at UMBC)

My children have followed me. Where are they?

Coming up from the metrorail underground.

A picture of the capital building (so my wife doesn't think I'm at the beach or something!)

Minerva, goddess of medicine, wisdom and magic. All necessary for raising triplets.

This is not a restaurant, it is the super quieter room.

I found a quieter room!

Okay. So I'm a really, really big nerd. I was reading this in the original Latin for an hour researching how Newton's text compares to our current texts.

It was one of the original copies published in MDCLXXXVII (1687)
It was only 500 pages, 34 lines per page, and really easy to read (not easy Latin, but easy big letters) and while he wasn't heralded as much of an orator, he put together a pretty good textbook. I was surprised to see errata in the back, even the inventor of calculus makes mistakes!

I thought I would donate one of the girls' books to the library.

It is one of the less damaged books we have.

What are they doing in there?
Adding 6 trillion to the national debt. Can we keep our clothes?

Auntie Kinzie makes it all better!

Thanks Grandma, these shoes are awesome.

Yup. They smell awesome.

Look awesome.

Taste Awesome.

Visiting hours. Teagan was trying to climb on the fireplace and is in time-out.

Cheerios.

Rianne stuffs half the Cheerios in her mouth to make sure Brielle doesn't eat them all.
Brielle's dancing!!!

In my spare time, I did write a book for my fall students. I am finishing up the eight YouTube videos to go with the pronunciation. But, if you know anyone that needs help pronouncing the drugs in pharmacology, here is the first video from Drug Names Decoded. The videos are free.

I changed the cover of the book, I didn't realize how bad the other one looked until I saw the videos a couple of times and what I could do with a photograph so here is the new first of the eight videos separated by physiologic class:

13 months and changing Part I

The girls had their one year check-up last week which is never fun.  The appointment takes almost two hours which bores the girls to death.  The girls did pretty well with their shots, but I'm not looking forward to the next round in three months.  The doctor thought Brielle was doing fine without her oxygen.  We will re-check her weight in a month.  If she is doing well then, we will be able to get rid of all the equipment that is sitting around our house!  Teagan and Rianne can now drink whole milk, but Brielle needs to stay on formula for the extra calories.  The girls are still behind on their speech and fine motor skills, but on track with their gross motor skills.  They will start to catch up around 18 months we hope, so we don't need to be concerned at this point.
Here are their stats

Brielle
Height 25.75 inches 1%   Weight  16 pounds 5 ounces 4%  Head 17 inches 8%

Teagan
Height 27.25 inches 1%    Weight 19 pounds  32%   Head  18 inches 66% (Daddy's fault)

Rianne
Height 28 inches 7%      Weight 18 pounds 5 ounces 22%   Head  17.25 inches 16%

Tony took a trip home to see his family.  We missed him a lot, but thankfully my family provided extra support to help me out, so I didn't go completely nuts.  Brielle has been in a funk where she hasn't wanted to stay asleep.  So Saturday night was night five of cry it out and she didn't cry!  Hopefully, she is back to her good sleeping self.  Rianne is the easiest to put to bed. Put her in her crib with a blanket and pacifier and she will put herself to sleep.  Teagan either sleeps well or fights it to the extreme where we have to put her back to bed four or five times.  Looks like she might be the next on the cry it out list.

I don't understand. You let Daddy go? Pink slip?

But, but, I know he can do better...

Daddy. We thought you left. Oh, hello, yogurt.

Not only do I look fashionable, but my belly's full. Mmmmm. Peach yogurt.
Brielle took two steps on her own Saturday (at 13 months) and is starting to do a little dance which involves her whole body.  I'll have Tony post a video (I'm not good at that) when he gets home. Teagan now says mama, dadda and a bunch of other babble.  Her two front teeth are coming and so she will have four soon.  She is also perfecting her temper tantrums which Brielle is picking up on. She shakes her head no when she is done eating and Rianne mimics her, but she continues to eat.  Rianne now says mama and makes a bunch of different grunting sounds.  She has been extra happy and smiley lately showing off her two bottom teeth.

To be continued in part II.
